Chief Rabbi Wolff enjoyed excellent relations with the Danish royal house; at the end of the speech here, he blesses King Christian VIII. Wolff is credited with improving relations between the Jews and Christians of Denmark. The amicable relations between the Danish Jews and their Christian neighbors, especially the royal family, were put to the supreme test during the Holocaust when Danes and their king risked their lives to save the Jewish community, most of whom were spirited away to safety in Sweden.
