Israel Bak began his printing enterprise in Safed, before transferring it to Jerusalem in 1841. This Book of Psalms is the second book to be printed by Bak in Safed.
With introduction by R. Gershon Margoliouth of Skalit and later, Chassidic Rabbi of Safed. He states the Bi’urei ha-Zohar were originally published by Israel ben Moses under the title Tamim Yachdav (Lublin, 1592) and notes that Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev held the commentary in great esteem. The vocalization, grammar, proper pronounciation (mi-le-eil and mi-le-ra) and Mesorah were prepared and checked by Shlomo Zalman Naphtali Hertz of Safed, grandson of R. Shlomo Zalman of Mir, (author of Shulchan Shlomo)
