A wealth of descriptive detail of Jewish life in America, scholarly articles, literary reviews, poetry, travelogues, as well as the editor’s Massechet Chanukah (a parody on playing cards). Of bibliographical interest are the lists of books for sale at the conclusion of each issue. The journal contains contributions by the most eminent scholars of the day: Alexander Harkavy, Meir Ish-Shalom (Friedmann), Bernard Drachman, J.D. Eisenstein, Ch.B. Friedberg, Solomon Mandelkern, P. Wiernick, L. Lewysohn, to name a few. The appearance of such a journal augured well for the future of Jewish scholarship in America
