This volume belonged to R. Shlomo Friedman of Tchortkov who served as Rebbe in Tel-Aviv from 1946. His Chassidic discourses were gathered and published as Divrei Shlomo (1961). The author, who had been the Chief Rabbi of Belgrade, was appointed Chief Rabbi of the Sephardic community of Amsterdam while visitng there in connection with the publication of this work (see the afterword by R.
