This is a maqama with a lengthy acrostic that runs the entire length of the poem, concerning a princess and her suitors. Zarco (16th century) was a native of Rhodes, who eventually settled in Salonika, where he was much acclaimed by the local poets.A.M. Haberman issued a critical edition of Lehem Yehudah in 1970.
