A native of Spain, Ibn Shuaib lived in Saragossa shortly before the expulsion in 1492. Ibn Shuaib’s collected sermons reveal both an extensive knowledge of both rabbinic as well as a broader general culture. The present work also provides an interesting description of the organization of sacred societies for communal needs in Saragossa. See EJ, IIX col.1201
