The authorship of the Bordereau (secret military document) was at the center of the accusations of treason made against Alfred Dreyfus. A secret military document sent by a French officer to the military attache of the German embassy in Paris was intercepted. On the basis of similarity of handwriting , suspicion fell on Dreyfus as the perpertrator and his public trial and humiliation was the beginnings of the ugly episode of anti-Semitic sentiment in France. This study of the original documents, uses various methods of graphological analysis to prove that the author of these incriminating documents was not Dreyfus but Esterhazy. This was indeed found to be the case and all charges against Dreyfus were dropped. He received a full pardon and was re-instated to his rank within the French army
