Jews came to be familiar with the writings of Aristotle, throguh the Arabic translations of his writings. Indeed, Iggereth Ha’mussar ("Ethical Letter"), ascribed to Aristotle was translated by Charizi from the Arabic found among the ethical epistles of the physician Ali ibn Rodhwan. As the Jews possessed an abundance of practical rules in their own religious texts, Aristotle’s ethical writtings were superfluous.
