Contains two important Kabbalistic essays, one of which is attributed to Isaac Luria, the famed AR”I, on the Kabbalistic significance of the Hebrew alphabet and its connection to the various parts of the fingers when the hand is both open and closed. The scribe cites a commentary by his teacher, Jacob Aschkenazi (also known as Jacob Temerls, d.1666). An outstanding German Talmudist and Kabbalist who resided in Poland, Temerls authored Sifra De'tzniutha De'yaakov (Amsterdam, 1669) and fasted daily for forty years. See C.N. Dembitzer, Keliloth Yofi, Vol. II, pp. 117-125
