The subject displays humility, whilst looking upward for guidance. This posture is most remeniscent of Maurycy Gottlieb especially his “Jews Praying in the Synagogue on Yom Kippur.” The painting is of various degrees of competence and is possibly over-painted. Detail of the subject's eyes and hands prove to be the most striking partions of the composition.
