ATTRACTIVE PARTIALLY GILT SILVER HANUKKAH LAMP. Warsaw,1860; Master: Pogorzelski.

Est: $5,000 - $7,000
Jan Pogorzelski was one of the Jewish silversmiths active in Warsaw in the mid-19th century. Certain design features of this lamp, such as the lions and palm trees, gravevines, and shield, were desirable at the time; see National Museum of Warsaw Catalogue, Judaica (1993) no. 278, p. 259, and no. 293, pl. 270. A very similar lamp, including the bird on a ring, appears in A. Kantsedikas, Masterpieces of Jewish Art, Vol. 2 Moscow, (1990), Bronze, last page of Hanukkah lamps.
