SCHNEERSON, SHOLOM BER

(RaSHa”B) and SCHNEERSON, JOSEPH ISAAC (RaYa”Tz). Group of three letters pertaining to the Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Horoditch and the Mashgiach Rabbi S. Z. Havlin.

I: Autograph note, unsigned and undated in Hebrew, in the hand of RaSHa”B to R. Havlin regarding the supervision of the students of the Yeshiva, suggesting that the lower level students need individual attention. II: Autograph Letter, signed in Hebrew on headed paper, in the hand of RaYa”Tz to R. Saadia [Baliter] of Horodetz and the townspeople encouraging them to support the Yeshiva and invite the students for Sabbath meals, dated 15th Kislev, 1906. Of interest, the stationary does not mention the “yeshiva.” S. Z. Havlin suggestes that this was done to conceal the Yeshiva from the eyes of the Government. See:S. Z. Havlin, Ha’Mashpia (Jerusalem, 1982) p.22. III: Autograph note, signed in Hebrew in the hand of R. Saadia Baliter of Horodetz, ordaining Rabbi Havlin, dated 1901. 8vo and larger
