The period of Shovavim; the six weeks commencing with the reading of the Torah portion of Exodus, is traditionally a time especialy conducive for repentnce, especially for sins of immoral act and thoughts. The collected rite of prayers, Psalms and liturgical hymns for this period of penance was instituted by R. Moses Zacut and includes an additional prayer by R. Judah Matzlliach of Padua.
