The author was a disciple of the outstanding Chassidic rabbis of his time, including the "Chozeh" (Seer) of Lublin, the "Yid Hakadosh", R. Simcha Bunim of Pzchizcha and The Maggid of Koznitz among others. He was known as a "miracle worker" as well as an activist in communal affairs. His literary legacy remained in his works Divrei Aviv (Warsaw, 1924) and Bikurei Aviv (Piotrkow, 1936). Some of his manuscripts were inherited by his grandson R. Tzvi Hirsch, the son of R. David Morgenstern of Kotzk.
