The first of several, differing collections of responsa by this supreme arbiter of Halachic authority in Germany. Among his annotations, Tzvi Hirsch Berlin quotes from his 14th century manuscript Sepher Sinai by Abraham of Rothenburg, brother of the Mahara”M. See Christie’s, Important Hebrew Manuscripts and Printed Books from The Library of the London Beth Din, New York, 23rd June 1999, Lot 2. In addition to an earlier 16th century Aschkenazi hand, the annotations possibly include a small note (f.4r) by Tzvi Hirsch Berlin’s son-in-law, Jacob Moses Loewenstamm, Chief Rabbi of Amsterdam (see lot 87)
