“One of the most vigorous and striking personalities of London Jewry,” Solomon Bennett’s literary attack in Tana Bikurim, is in fact an excuse to impugn the piety of the Chief Rabbi, Solomon Hirschell. The present tract Minchath Kena’oth, is a defense of the honor of Chief Rabbi Hirschell. Barnett suggests the work was indeed composed by Solomon Hirschell himself. See A. Barnett, Solomon Bennett (1761-1838) Artist, Hebraist and Controversialist, in: JHSET, vol. XVII (1953) pp. 91-111
