The author was a Shochet from the town of Minsk, who, as an amateur historian, authored many scholarly articles for the religious periodical “Ha-Levanon.” His writings were especially featured in the literary supplement, “Kevod ha-Levanon.” Toldoth Anshei Hashem, culled from various sources, contains numerous original insights into the lives, families and works of some of the greatest scholars of the 17th and 18th century. The Pinkas Hamedina, is the Chronicle of the Council of Lithuania. The historian Simon Dubnow, published its contents for the years 1623-1761, but was seemingly unaware of this important manuscript
