In June 1539, Robert Estienne was appointed Royal Printer and Bookseller in Hebrew and Latin. He immediately commissioned Jehan Arnoul to cut a new Hebrew type in preparation for the printing of this famous quarto Hebrew Bible, an edition renowned for it’s typographic artistry
