Necklaces such as this one, known as a Labbeh, were made in Yemen by the silversmiths of San’a. They were usually given to a bride by her father or groom. The necklace would have been suspended from the bride’s headpiece, surrounding her chin, during the Marriage Ceremony and on festive occasions throughout her life.
