R. Aaron ben Moses Teomim (c. 1630-1690) was educated in Prague. In 1670 he succeeded R. Moses Samson Bacharach (father of the Chavoth Yair) as rabbi of Worms. He authored his famed Mateh Aharon on the Passover Haggadah after recovering from a grave illness.
In 1690 Teomim accepted the position of rabbi in Cracow. However, mere weeks after his arrival he was ordered arrested. His health was poor and he fell off his captors’ horse a number of times en route to the prison. By the time they arrived, Teomim was already dead- hence the HY”D (Hashem Yinkom Damo) after his name on the title page.
