One of the great Talmudists of the day, the author (known as R. Avraham Sheftels) was a disciple of the Rema. The co-author, his son, grew to become the revered SHeLa’H HaKadosh. The lengthy introduction by both father and son contain Kabbalistic elements which later became the hallmark of the SHeLa’H.
