Rabbi Meir served as the rabbi of Midelt, Morocco from 1945 until 1952, and of Erfoud and its district from 1952 to 1965, when he emigrated to Eretz Israel and settled in Ashdod. The recipient of the letter, Rabbi Avraham Elasri (Lasri), who served as a rabbi, shochet, and mohel in the community of Ksar es Souk (today Errachidia), Morocco, was a regular correspondent of Rabbi Meir during the latter’s tenure in Erfoud.
