In a sense, R. Moshe Cordovero (1522-70) did for Kabbalah what Maimonides executed for Halachah: He provided a systematic code. Following the death of the ReMa’K, his carefully constructed system of Kabbalah was further developed by his younger contemporary in Safed, the revolutionary AR’I (R. Yitzchak Luria).
