In his Shem HaGedolim, the Chid’a cites R. Ya’akov Alfandari: “For us…the MaHaRaSHa”CH is considered as the…RO”SH.” Having printed the first volume of this work of responsa with the short-lived Printing House of David Azubib in his home town of Salonika, the author sent the second volume to be printed in Venice. When Matathias Bath-Sheva and Sons established a printing operation in Salonika in 1592, R. Solomon, as he states in his introduction to the addenda of Volume II, saw no reason to continue the Venetian commission and thus the third volume of the work was printed in Salonika. See I. Mehlman, Gnuzot Sepharim (1973) pp. 73-5.
