A popular Midrashic work divided into two parts; Rabbah (Greater) and Zuta (Lesser). The Talmud (Kethuboth F. 106a) relates that the Prophet Elijah would teach a R. Anan secrets of the Torah. However, after emitting an erroneous ruling, Elijah HaNavi ceased to appear to R. Anan. Only after an extensive period of penitence, and with Anan hiding his gaze from him did Elijah resume his teaching. Accordingly, the lessons taught before this incident are recorded in the Rabbah section, while the lessons taught afterwards are found in Zuta.
