Highlighting the importance of this work the title page emphasizes that “A Zohar without an index is like a body without a soul - only when united are they of use, filling in the other’s deficiencies.” The Italian born author migrated to the Eretz Israel to become a disciple of both R. Yoseph Karo and R. Yoseph Cordovero. In 1580 he was appointed President of the Beth Din of Safed.
