Composed in the 13th century, the Sepher Tanya is a compilation of Jewish law and custom as applied by the Jews of Italy (Minhag Bnei Roma). There is considerable overlap between the present work and another work of the same genre, Shibolei HaLeket also composed by Zedekiah Anav.
See EJ, Vol. II, cols. 937-38 and M. Waxman, History of Jewish Literature Vol. II, pp. 130-32 regarding the disputatious authorship of Sepher Tanya.
