Texts in Hebrew. Some wear.

Jerusalem: 1956

Est: $400 - $600
Religiously offended by the operation of vehicles in the streets of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, certain Hareidi groups took to the streets in public protest. The ‘Sabbath Protests’ of 1956 were greatly exacerbated when a particular protester, Pinchas Seglov, was beaten by police and subsequently died. Posters include those with headlines: <<*>> Ein HaShabbos Hefker (“The Sabbath is not for the Taking.”). <<*>> Ashreichem Shenitfastem (“Fortunate are You who have been Arrested.”). Police are accused of excessive violence: <<*>> “Pogroms have been Committed in Hareidi Neighborhoods.” <<*>> “They Seek Jaffa Street to become Judenrein.” Upcoming protest dates and locations are announced, oftentimes with speeches to be delivered by R. Amram Blau of the Neturei Karta.
