This photograph depicts eighteen individuals: Eight women, seven men, and three children. Interestingly, one of the group, a teenage boy, wears a yarmulke. They are gathered possibly for the unveiling of the monument at Mary Benovitz’s grave. The Hebrew inscription reads: ‘Here reposes our mother, our guide, Miriam bath Aryeh Leib.’ The year of her birth is given as 5589 (1829) and death is 5684 (1924).
