Rabbi Singer (1816-98) was rabbi of Kirchdorf and Wallendorf in Slovakia. His father was R. Binyamin Wolf Löw (1772-1851), author of Sha’arei Torah; and R. Elazar Löw, the Shemen Roke’ach (1758-1837) was his grandfather. Rabbi Plaut (1818-94), author of Likutei Chaver Ben Chaim, was a student of both the Chasam Sofer and his son and successor, the Kesav Sofer.
