An account of German persecution of Tunisian Jewry during World War Two. The French Vichy government ran the affairs of Tunisia, however from November 1942, the country fell under the direct control of Nazi Germany. Immediately mechanisms were put in place to bring the Final Solution to the Jews of Tunisia. Jewish-owned property was confiscated, a Judenrat was established and over 5,000 Jews were sent to forced labor camps. Six months later, in May 1943, Tunisia was liberated by the Allies - making this the first Jewish community to be freed from Nazi rule.
