A grandson of R. Menachem Mendel of Kotz, R. Yitzchak Zelig Morgenshtern was one of the leading Chassidic Rabbis of Poland and among the founders of the Agudath Israel Movement. His father was rabbi of Pulav, but R. Yitzchak Zelig took up residence in Sokolov and Otwock. His writings were published in She’erith Yitzchak and thousands flocked to his court for guidance and assistance. Due to R. Yitzchak Zelig’s extensive medical knowledge he gave his followers medical prescriptions which were subsequently kept as a form of amulet. See Encyclopedia of Chassidut, Vol. II pp. 132-4.
