Friedlaender (c.1860–c.1923), published a number of works of doubtful authenticity, along with outright forgeries. Here, he claims to have discovered a number of early editions of the Talmud Yerushalmi containing extensive marginal notes of “famous Geonim - mostly Sephardic” based upon which, Friedlaender edited the text. The introduction here provides an overview of the history of the publication of the Yerushalmi and its commentaries.
Contains rabbinic approbations including, quite spectacularly, that of R. Chaim Soloveitchik of Brisk - no doubt entirely spurious.
