Dutch theologian T.H. Honert (1666-1740) was a professor of theology and Hebrew antiquities at the University of Leiden. This comprehensive and critical study on the Book of Genesis, is comprised of three sections: The creation of the world - follows the Hebrew narrative of Genesis’s Seven Days of Creation, phrase by phrase, with explanation and commentary in Latin. Second: A discussion of the Garden of Eden and its four rivers: Pison, Gihon, Hiddekel, Euphrates and includes the foldout map by F. V. Bleyswyk, centered around Canaan. Third: The origin of languages of the first centuries, and its propagation into various and complex dialects; includes Hebrew root words.
