The Holocaust and the needs of the survivors was the topic of this public meeting. The connection of many of the speakers to the devastation of European Jewry is noted (e.g. Zeidman, who would later publish his Diary of the Warsaw Ghetto) is listed as “Dr. Hillel Zeidman, of Warsaw Ghetto.” According to a report of the meeting recorded in the Jewish Chronicle (December 7, 1945), Rabbi Meisels (the Veitziner Rov) spoke of his tragic address to 1,400 teenagers in Auschwitz shortly before they were led to their murder on Rosh Hashanah, 1944.
