Boris Schatz (1866-1932) was the founder of the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem, and is considered the father of Israeli art.
Yerushalayim HeBenuyah is a utopian novel in which Schatz and the eponymous Bezalel ben Uri explore and discuss the “rebuilt Jerusalem” of the future - of the year 2018. In their vision, the Land of Israel is a technologically advanced, socialist, and egalitarian state; with of course, the Fine Arts playing a central role in society.
