As part of a comprehensive overview of all things related to “America’s Greatest Metropolis,” this volume, in its section on Religion and Morals includes a brief history of the Jews in New York to that point, and a listing of the ten extant synagogues in Manhattan at the time (p. 79.) In addition, the 180 page advertising supplement contains numerous examples of goods and services provided by merchants whose names suggest Jewish extraction.
