Lydia Cohen (nee Diamantschleifer) was the wife of Levi Barnet Cohen, founder of the distinguished (Waley-) Cohen family - a fixture upon Anglo-Jewish life for more that two centuries. Lydia bore nine children, including Hannah, who became Mrs. Nathan M. Rothschild; and Judith, who became Mrs. Moses Montefiore. See Cohen Family Pedigree in EJ, Vol. V col. 659; and C.
