Front-page article entitled simply “The Jews,” speaks approvingly of Mr. Noah’s bid to establish a community of Jewish immigrants on Grand Island in the Niagara River. “[This] cannot fail to excite interest, because it embraces an object that appears to us very feasible … [America] is the most preferable country for the Jews. Here they can have their Jerusalem without fearing the legions of Titus. Here they can lay their heads on their pillows at night, without fear of mobs, of bigotry and persecution; here they can become citizens, attached to the soil, defending the laws and interested in the protection of liberty.”
