Brother of the celebrated Jacob DeCordova, Aaron DeCordova (1804-1866) was a wealthy Kingston merchant who was elected to the first board of directors of the Hebrew National School in Kingston, Jamaica (see Occident, Vol. V, No. 4, July 1847). Rev. A. H. Delevante was appointed as the minister in the Spanish Portuguese Synagogue in 1852. He was a correspondent of Rev. Isaac Leeser of Philadelphia and kept him informed of events in Jamaica affecting the Jewish community there. A most scarce pamphlet.
