Decree issued by Duke Karl I (1713-80) of Braunschweig-Wolfenbuettel prohibiting Jewish beggars from entering his territories, infringement of this law will be punished with imprisonment and forced labor. All subjects - especially owner of inns -are obligated to notify the authorities should they discover Jewish beggars. Anyone who assists them or their families in entering the territories of the duchy will be duly punished.
