<<THE FIRST ASCHKENAZIc SHEVU’OTH MACHZOR PRINTED IN AMERICA. >> Issued alongside a volume for Sukoth and Pesach, this “completes the separate German and Polish liturgies begun in 1854” [Goldman 43 unseen]. Goldman does not provide a collation of this Shevu’oth Machzor as “<<a copy of the Pentecost volume could not be located>> .” Based upon the celebrated Wolf Heidenheim edition, this prayer book was issued by the Jewish printing establishment of Henry (Chaim) Frank of New York, thus enabling the newly rising community of Aschkenazic American Jews to conduct services according to their own custom, as opposed to that of the Sephardic rite.
