One of the great early Chassidic masters, the author (1729-1819) had been a student of the Baal Shem Tov. This highly scarce work contains approbations by R. Abraham Joshua Heschel of Apta and the author’s son-in-law, R. Yitzchak ben R. Yechiel Michel of Zlotchow. There is a difference of opinion among bibliographers as to the place of publication of the Divrei Moshe. The town of Polonnoye is suggested by both Friedberg (Mem 448) and by Yudlov (Mehlman 1173) based upon the particular design of the ornamental border on the title-page. However Wunder attributes it to Mezhibuzh, see The Hebrew Press in Polonnoye, in: Alei Sepher Vol. V, p. 156.
