De Fonseca’s Hebrew press at Amsterdam was operative for only one year, during which time he printed just two Hebrew books. It remains unclear why de Fonseca engaged in Hebrew printing at all, particularly in light of his colleague, Menasseh ben Israel’s far more successful enterprise. See L.
