The passage which evidently an ecclesiastical authority saw fit to expunge is where Amatus shares the Jewish legend concerning the birth of Ben Sira, namely that he was born to Jeremiah's daughter after she had immersed herself in a bath inseminated by her father the Prophet Jeremiah. See EJ, Vol. IV, cols. 548-50, s.v. Alphabet of Ben Sira; Steinschneider ed., Alpha Beta de-Ben Sira (Berlin, 1858), 16b-17a
