A defense of the Holy Office of the Inquisition. This rare tract takes the form of a personal letter written by an inhabitant of the City of Evora, addressed to an unamed Professor at the University of Coimbra who dared criticize the Holy Office of the Inquisition. Contains material pertaining to the Church's persecution of the Jansenist heresy, founded by Cornelius Jansen, Bishop of Ypres, France (pp. 51-3). See H. C. Lea, A History of the Inquisition of Spain, Vol. IV (1907) pp. 284-97.
