Techinoth, devotional prayers in the Yiddish vernacular were often composed by women to be recited by women. Thus, one of our Techinoth was written by "Serel, daughter of the famous Rabbi Jacob Segal of Dubno, wife of the great luminary, well-versed in wisdom, Rabbi Mordechai Katz-Rapaport." Another was written by "Sarah, daughter of R. Mordechai, grandson of R. Mordechai, Av-Beith-Din of Brisk."
