Viennese by birth, Baron Ephraim Lopes Pereira D’Aguilar (1739-1802), son of Diego Lopez Pereira, Treasurer to Queen Maria Theresa, was a famed eccentric and miser. On his estate at Islington, the animals were so undernourished the place was popularly referred to as “Starvation Farm”
