(MAIMONIDES / RaMBa”M). Sepher ha-Mitzvoth [Book of Commandments]

Judeo-Arabic in Rashi script. Title in red and black ink in design of house. At end of section of Positive Commandments, intricate design in red and black. Initials enhanced with red, black and green inks. The colophon reads: “Salem ben Yachya ben Chaim Korach…Written for Ya’ish ben Selim al-Badichi…San’a…Friday, Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan in the year 2216 of Shetaroth / [5]664 of Creation.” The scribe’s grandfather, R. Chaim Korach (1824-1914), famed as a Torah scholar and saintly kabbalist, served as Rosh Yeshivah in San’a, the capital of Yemen. See Aaron Kafah, Gedolai Rabbanei Teiman (1989), pp. 61-69 ff.
