Though converted to Christianity, the Chuetas, as the Marranos of the island of Majorca were known, were none the less persecuted. In this publication, the influential body of citizens of Palma, the capitol of Majorca, appealed in vain against the decision in Madrid to give the Chuetas civil rights. See B. Braunstein, The Chuetas of Majorca (1936)
